The illusion of a simple two-dimensional work gradually melts away as Rachel Eulena Williams' masterclass in texture reveals itself. This work is a striking study, with undulating forms and the hint of scripts creating a new language that we are all invited to learn. The combination of collaged painting and found objects creates a compelling composition, as the familiar and the abstract meld together to form a new whole before our eyes.

Rachel Eulena Williams (b. 1991, Miami, FL) has held solo exhibitions at Xavier Hufkens Gallery (Brussels), Independent Art fair with Canada (New York), The Modern Institute (Glasgow), Canada (New York), Ceysson & Bénétière (Saint Etienne), Cooper Cole (Toronto), The Journal Gallery (Brooklyn), and Turn Gallery (New York), as well as a two-person show with Scott Teleaven held at Cooper Cole. Select group exhibitions include presentations at Hauser & Wirth (Los Angeles), The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum (Ridgefield, CT), Kapp Kapp (New York), Nicelle Beauchene (New York), PACE Gallery (New York), Halsey McKay (East Hampton), and Marvin Gardens (Brooklyn), among many others. She undertook a 2019 fellowship at the Robert Blackburn printmaking studio in the Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts. Williams lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.
