Cahiers d’Art 1933 1-2 Issue (Special Edition on Georges Braque)

$200.00

Cahiers d’Art 1933 1-2 Issue (8th Year)

Year: 1933
Dimensions: 12 ½ x 9 ¾ inches (31.7 x 24.7 cm)
Condition: Good, with some binding damage and minimal staining (consistent with age).  Overall one of the better copies we have seen of this edition.

Description:
A striking 1933 issue of Cahiers d’Art, the influential French art journal founded in 1926 by Greek art critic Christian Zervos. This edition, from the journal's eighth year, exemplifies its avant-garde vision and multidisciplinary approach to modern art, culture, and criticism.

Key Features:
- The journal covers "Peinture, Sculpture, Architecture, Art Ancien, Ethnographie, Cinéma" reflecting its expansive engagement with both contemporary and historical art forms.
- Georges Braque Exhibition Feature: A bold red section announces the "Exposition Georges Braque au Musée des Beaux-Arts de Bale" (Basel Museum of Fine Arts), highlighting the journal’s role in promoting major modernist figures. Braque, a pioneer of Cubism, was a frequent subject in Cahiers d’Art, and this feature likely includes critical essays, reproductions, or exhibition documentation.
